Vanilla or Chocolate?
When I first put this blog together my intentions were to
show case my writings. No one except a few friends and select family members read
anything I wrote. To me each poem is personal and very much part of me much
like parent and child but on a different level. I always felt that my poetry
though dark and edgy and too deep for most to understand would offer a glimpse
to some of my struggles, my hurts and even an explanation of who and why I am.
I could have easily used Face Book to exhibit my poetry, they after all in my
mind are my kids, but I was unsure of how they would be received and I didn’t
want to get locked into needing a response or pushing something onto people who
might not want to read everything I write.
I did find my bold
side or my voice per say and announced on Face Book about my blog and gave them
the choice. There were a small handful that went in and gave some a read even a
thumbs up and shout out but now narrowed down to one or two that will
occasionally take a peek or remind those on FB that I have some good reads on
here.
I think it was in
2013 I started this blog wetting people’s interests mainly with family through
my niece’s photographs combined with my poetry or inspirations. I now have 665
posts; poetry, artwork I have done, music I like and stories and thoughts from
my heart and soul. There are poems I had written for people, thoughts and
stories about people I probably should have shared via FB but unsure of the
reaction I planted them here. I have to this date over 6292 page views, surely
not a record breaker. A dog pushing a kiddie shopping cart can get 1 million
likes and page shares so in reality I’m not doing that great, LOL. During the
good old days of Aboutme where I hooked up with to spread the word about my
first time self-published book Twisting in The Wind then my book of poetry Deep
Waters I met and connected with some really nice people and a few dedicated
followers. I did my best to try to social network on Aboutme but the few substantial
connections are still connected and if they like something I wrote they share
it, I can’t ask for anything more than that. I even get an occasional comment,
that makes my day.
I have decided to
separate my blog into two halves. One half will be Poetry/Lyrics and the other
half Stories/Inspirations/Thoughts; both may contain photographs or artwork
from family and friends or pulled from the internet combined with my writing
but once I figure out how to do this you will not have to read something long
winded and not so artistic when you were expecting a short poem. For me it’s
all about change and options, giving choices.
