Watered Down or Absolute
I try to stay clear of absolute writing, well at least
posting them for the world to see and scrutinize. Although here in the “states”
we have the free speech thing and pretty much we can gripe and throw verbal
darts at our government, people we don’t care for, actions or beliefs that rub
us the wrong way, etc. etc. Now that everything is easily accessible and anyone
and I do mean anyone can read what you wrote, you really have to take a moment
before you post something, although there are quite a few people out there with
no filter. The mere fact that current or potential employers can delete you
like a bad file because of something you wrote about or perhaps a loved one,
family member or neighbor catches a read about something you blurted out and
made public. With some nips here and some tucks there what you wanted to
express and get across becomes a literary tornado and you end up doing a lot of
back pedaling.
There have been
quite a few pieces I had drawn up and wanted to post but retracted because even
though I know not many really take the time to read what I write and or post I
do refrain from putting something that really irks me or hurts me or makes my
brain itch because I’m not really sure how it will be received, especially by
the people it was directed at. My inner child of course screams out to write
like I mean then post it because there will be someone out there that feels the
same way but then the adult more conservative me pops out and discourages me.
It’s more than okay to write it out, it’s actually very therapeutic but
plastering it all over social media or even on select blogs, well, that often
stirs up more issues than solving them.
I have very strong
opinions on most things but I don’t always air them. I have sat many times at
my computer writing up a juicy bit about something that really bothers me and I
know someone out there will relate to but I don’t post it and most times I
completely delete it just because I don’t feel like dealing with the backlash
it might cause. It seems like everyone out there is hypersensitive these days
and if you say the wrong thing in the wrong tone it will be shared around the
world millions of times over and not in a good way. I just avoid all that crap
and not post every thought that enters my mind. I will continue to write absolutely
in old school paper notebooks or on my pc then scrap it but I will water down
and make what I post more digestible
