I thought By Now
I thought by now you’d
know me
I figured that by you reading me like I think you do
That you would have allowed the words to penetrate
That you would have scratched beneath the surface
Understood my moods, seen my scars
Put together where I have been and where I want to go
I had hoped by now that you would have some kind of
understanding
Of who I am and why I am
And yes, I really thought in my mindscapes
I envisioned through idealistic eyes
All those who knew the surface me. The reactional me
To sit down with the softer version, the funny side
I even dreamt of being accepted and embraced
It is clear more now than ever before that
Whatever I spill out onto the page
You will quickly breeze through and make it your own
