Getting Real about something
For me to say my poetry or writings weren’t written to grab
some attention would be a lie. Every writer, every artist, every creative being
deep down wants to show their creation and get some kind of reaction. A great deal of my writings were hammered out
for me to help deal with something or someone affecting me, I couldn’t find my
voice to say what I needed to say out loud to them so I wrapped it up in poetry
thinking if they poked their head into my life they would read what I wrote and
understand me better.
Regardless of what
age I nestle into when I write something that is meaningful first to me I think
about there has to be someone else out there that has experienced the same or
is going through the same emotional hurdles. I don’t expect the world to stop
spinning and read what I wrote, I am well aware that the universe doesn’t
revolve around me; I wouldn’t know how to handle it if it did. I do flirt from
time to time with making lots of money off of my writings but that boils down
to being at the right place at the right time or knowing the right people with
money and power to pull you out of the shadows into notoriety. I mean seriously, who the hell wouldn’t want
to pull some kind of income off their creation?
Each poem, essay or
thought blurb may not have a hidden agenda but I wouldn’t mind some interaction
on them. Did something I write strike a chord with you? Did it inspire you in
any way? Did it make you smile, grind your teeth, roll your eyes, cry? Yes,
okay I wouldn’t mind being noticed or admired but that is temporary and can
only go so far. A creative artisan has something in them to share and behind
each creation is a story and perhaps a hope that what ever they created will
bring something to the table for someone else to enjoy or inspire.
