Rain Storm

I am caught inside a sudden rain storm

With nothing to cover or shield me

I hear thunder bouncing through the clouds

I walk with urgency fearing my styled hair will wilt

And my thin cotton top and light shorts will reveal more of me than I want

I am further away from home than I want to be but I stop running, catching my breath

Sheets of water shower down on me, I am soaked my clothes wet and heavy

I am exposed now but I no longer care

I kick my shoes off and dance in the puddles that form beneath

I feels good to just lean into and letting go

Yes, I got some weird looks from people passing by under their umbrellas

As I approached the door to my safe haven I realized

How freeing it was just to let things happen
