Memeorial Day Speak

Spoken from an everyday commoner.

I have no idea what’s it like to in the military, to be a protector of this country. I know from reading or hearing firsthand what it takes to be in the armed forces but like most never really put too much thought into it.  For me personally there was never a thought or pull for me to consider going into the armed forces, I didn’t have the discipline or guts.

I have to be honest here reading and hearing about WW1 and WW2, I wasn’t really interested, part of me didn’t under it all.  I was only a kid during the Vietnam War and I only somewhat understood only by the music and protesting over it that it was taking young men from the comforts of home and sending them into hostile territory. Those that did return not in a body bag were never the same.

I have no concept, can’t wrap my mind around what any man or woman goes through on or off hostile environments to protect or uphold representation of this country, all I know is that I don’t have the guts or glory to do so. I can bitch and moan about the growth or the slack in this country like many of us do only because I feel safe in which to do so, because  those who have served, those who have gone into wars and have lost their lives or came back broken.

I don’t always agree with the policies and procedures of this country but I don’t have to but I do have an immense respect for the men and women past and present that have served in the military to protect this country. I even extend that respect to other countries who are right there with us in trying to stop the bad guys.
THANK YOU
