Speak
The dance of speaking one’s mind has been going on since
forever. I imagine before Jesus began teaching a softer version on how to honor
God and people and situations, people just spoke their mind freely. There were quite a few by the bookers while
Jesus was preaching and teaching that was more concerned over what Jesus was
trying to free us from. Basically they were bent out of shape worried that
Jesus was going to pollute everyone’s mind by his teachings. One of the best
come back lines and Jesus had many was “Do not worry about what goes into the
mouth, worry more about what come out of the mouth.” That can be taken a couple
ways. Worry less about what you eat as in food or what you hear and be mindful
of what you say and do. Well, that my spin on it.
I am a free will
free spirit advocate. I feel that everyone should be able to speak their mind,
express their heart but I also believe that before blurting anything out that
maybe one should filter or edit what is going to be said. You may feel entitled
to your feelings and you have the right to feel what you feel and nobody should
encroach on that but using discernment when speaking with people is not a sign of
weakness but good judgement. I’m not talking about walking around on rice
paper, just don’t say everything just because you think or feel it.
I express a lot of
myself through my writings even through some of my artwork but most of what I have
publicly posted in word form I have pretty much edited. I can’t tell you how
many things I have typed out during anger or hurt feelings or even written out
my opinion about people and circumstance that gave me a chance to vent but then
deleted. There is a lot going on in my mind, it may not seem it because I hold
back on speaking my mind. What’s that expression? Still waters run deep. I admire people that can be bold and brazen
and say it as it is but cringe at them when they waive discernment.
