Twinkling Star

I pressed my warm face against the cold pane of glass

And watched life outside unfold

I was once that child happy chasing a ball

Now I am all grown up and getting old

I sat in a ray of sunshine

Pouring through the slotted blind

Sipping sweetened coffee listening to TV

Picking up wisdom on mental trips

While I slowly lost my mind

I thought how fun and lively

I can be when I’m with those who understand

Those who find me interesting and revere me

Like an unpolished gemstone in a creators hand

I believe each star above

Was meant for each one of us

We can shine as bright as we can

While hanging out with all the rest
