Somewhere Unplugged
I pulled up a piece of earth and sat along the edge
I dipped my toe in the reflecting pool of drink
The sun had rings of radiating light and heat
While my foot splashed and made rings
As I tried my best not to think
I heard birds of different feathers
Talk amongst themselves
They were perched on many branches
Like the same book on different shelves
I leaned back and rested on my hands
My feet in the water my face in the sun
It was just me and Mother Nature
I felt like a long battle had been won
I thought about when
I was much younger
Running and playing in open fields like this
No headlines No deadlines
Nothing to forfeit or painfully miss
I found a place where I can escape
When the world gets too heavy to bare
It’s somewhere totally unplugged
But it’s just for me, I’m not willing to share
