Pandora"s Box 2015
Remember before computers and phones
How growing up took like forever
We hung around in record stores
Or sent away to have our favorite artist shipped to us
There was no sampling
The kitchen table was a place where family sat and ate
Discussed what was going on
Not a docking station for IPads, smartphones and junk mail
pile up
The big ticket gifts for birthdays and Christmas
Bikes, your favorite record maybe even a concert ticket
It used to be a series of small gifts
Now out of convenience it elaborate electronics
Because like after all what six year old would be caught
without
The latest and greatest smartphone
Yes, times have changed and yes I am that age
That can recall simplicity and being grateful
Not to mention being able to stir up fun out doors
Or being able to handle not being entertained 24/7
Pandora’s Box has been opened and cannot be closed
My childhood memories are now retro, history
Clothes, music and television gets rediscovered, recycled
Each generation breathes new life in old things
Will there be any takers to bring back simplicity?
Or do we just deal with the monsters of the new age
Like our parents did and their parents
