Opening and Closing
I wonder as I lay
down to close a hair pulling day
Trying to find a comfortable
position
If I reacted appropriately
to situations
Though I read and
listen to comfort from many
Each circumstance
lends to its own unraveling
I am never too young
to understand
Never too old to
learn and grow
I grow tired of vanilla,
safe and predictable
But leery of new
and just for now
As my feet hit
the cool new morning floor
I am thankful but
prefer to keep my options open
I am good with
opening up a new day
And closing out a
night
It’s just all the
in between that messes me up
