The Dance

I fell into a magical mist

Not my mother’s

Not my father’s

Nobody I recognize

On any so-called list

I sighed out loud

While the morning was still dark

I heard rain sizzling on the ground

And a smaller dog with a loud bark

I was on the way to letting go

Afraid of meeting a force I didn’t know

Beaten down by the weeks circumstance

Was not in my heart to get up and dance

I got up and wiped off the pity dust

Moved to the music like my bones had rust

I tried hard not to crack a smile

But I got lost in the feeling for a while

I was free from the heaviness of the world

No longer a grown lady but a free spirit girl

I swirled and dipped and stretched up high

Floated on air gravity denied
