Of Life and Death
We all believe that we owed a certain amount of time
For our own personal journey and for those we love
Nowhere is it written how many days we get
And nowhere can you find that life and love
Will be fair or even kind
We all believe that death is something
That we all will experience and the loss of someone we love
Will happen regardless of whether we are prepared or not
In the hour of a loved one suffering
We greedily grasp and beg for more time and a miracle
Whether at the end of a long fruitful walk
Or a brief fight for survival from being born
The heart break and the gaping hole death leaves
Because we cling dearly to the belief that those we love
Regardless of age or bouts of sickness, should live for as
long as we do
To avoid the emptiness and ache
There are no answers as to why some suffer long
Fight like crazy to remain then lose the battle
Or why a life that had life threatening issues from
conception
Was allowed to be born and the parents fall in love with him
or her
To do everything they are supposed to do to but then have to
say goodbye
None of that is fair
Even though we are not promised how long
Or given a chapter by chapter read out of our life or
Warning of how we will pass
I am not so sure we would react any different
