Visons in The Desert

I sat with a sage in an oasis

His eyes was a riveting blue

His long brown hair danced in the breeze

After a long walk in silence across the desert plain

The sun bright but not too hot

A sea of sand with no horizon

We found a fresh green respite

He watched me as I nervously tried to look away

Then smiled and finally asked

“Don’t you get tired of carrying around your cross and playing the victim?

Don’t you know that was all done for you?

I have watched you twist and toil and cling to leaves with no life”

His eyes began to well with tears as he reached for my hand

He smiled and softly urged, “Woman, you have been given both freedom and chosen gifts yet you

Hang around the dead. Please, remove the spikes from your hands and feet and live.”

My hands bled and my face glistened with tears

I looked up to thank him but he was already gone
