Your Day In The Sun
I watched as you became both sun and moon
And occupied all living space
You were once reachable, touchable and down to earth
I thought you were humble and strong
But now I am witness to something else
I don’t know who you are anymore
I thought perhaps my heart was jealous
I searched it and I found your former self
I mourned because I miss your attention
And felt the need to walk away
You can have your spotlight
But I don’t want to call you friend
You are someone I know of
No longer willing to jump through hoops of fire
Just to resonate a response
And occupied all living space
You were once reachable, touchable and down to earth
I thought you were humble and strong
But now I am witness to something else
I don’t know who you are anymore
I thought perhaps my heart was jealous
I searched it and I found your former self
I mourned because I miss your attention
And felt the need to walk away
You can have your spotlight
But I don’t want to call you friend
You are someone I know of
No longer willing to jump through hoops of fire
Just to resonate a response
