Red Rain

As rich as the rain that stains my bare feet

Deeper scarlet red that bleeds from my pores

How you stood there and twisted the knife

How your words slipped in further

As you gained your ground

I quietly lost my life

It was you that separated from me

And I was kept hidden between

You were right beside me all those years

But further from me than the moon and stars

And more fallout from the cutting words and

Disgusted stares

Now the gap could get no wider

And salvation a little girl’s dream

You’re still on your velvet throne looking down

And I am still the court jester jumping at shadows

And recreating life as it seems

Heavy as the cloak that covers me

Betrayed by a narrow soul and heart

Step right over me like you always have

Pretending I don’t exist

Breaking me down and tear me apart

Ignore me now it’s okay

Everyone now knows how cold you are to me

Your lack of interest and acknowledgement

Is now displayed for the world to see
