The agony of defeat

I had put aside Sunday(yesterday),as grudge match day. My favorite quarterback and team against another top rated quarter back and team. I usually try to not cook on the weekend but I wanted to make Sunday a personal event and I did. I went out and shopped for what I was going to cook for the meal then came home and spent the morning prepping and cooking and got a load of laundry in. By the time the pre-game hype started I was getting excited to watch this game. I will admit I was somewhat nervous because the opposing quarter back Peyton Manning is as good as my quarter back Tom Brady, maybe a bit more spot on than Brady. I was girding myself for a tug of war, a game filled high energy and anxiety and was willing to take a loss meaning no Super bowl if they,(The New England Patriots), played their best.
It became very apparent in the first quarter that Peyton Manning and the Broncos wanted to win this game. They not only scored first which I know doesn't mean anything because teams can rally in the last 20 minutes and come from behind and win and my team had done that before. As I watched hoping my teams would stop allowing the opposing team to dominate the energy and scoreboard I was getting uneasy because I wasn't seeing the fight to seize the moment from a team that worked hard to get to the arena for the big game.
I was trying to muster some hope for the after half time surge. Thinking to myself like most Patriot fans were that a bucket of ice water would be thrown on them to wake them up and start playing. Well, that didn't exactly happen. It wasn't until the last ten minutes of the 4th quarter did they even resemble a professional football team but it was too late. It was hard to accept Denver winning only because my team didn't play to win. I felt like they gave the ticket to the Super bowl to Denver. I did get a nice home cooked meal out of this Sunday at home thing but my team didn't win. I didn't lose any money on this game just bragging rights
