Free to Move about
My long time dance with T-Mobile has come to an end. They were my first and only cell phone carrier for 12 years. I really didn't have much issue with them when I owned the basic cell phone, calls coming in and out, a few cheesy games and limited texting on a micro keypad. At the time simple cell phone was serving the purpose of what it was designed to and reception for what I was using for was pretty good. From time to time a call or two was dropped but so was everyone else I was talking with that had a different carrier so I dealt with it.
When I closed down my land line to make my cellphone the one and only gateway to make calls out and in I shook loose an extra payment a month and a lot of unwanted solicitation calls....so I thought. I did leave myself open to not having a back method just in case of bad weather or tower failure leaning on my cellphone provider for everything.
I was caught like most people in contract hell where every time I was ready to leave and explore other carriers and plans T-Mobile would dangle a new shiny phone with broader range and fancy options. Upping my plan price and opting me into the smart phone cycle. I am so not a techy but fascinated with all the buzzers and bells I not only singed myself back into a 2 year binding agreement but I also felt foolishly secure thinking my provider had my back and that their services were a cut above. Up until recently we were all held into a 2 year restriction I am sure I was not the only one to just keep upgrading and tucking myself back into the providers pocket.
As I got pulled into smart phone advancement I did begin to see small changes in quality. I did blame the actual device a lot and myself because I mishandling the handheld computer. For the most part it was still performing it's primary function, making calls out and taking calls in. I guess because there wasn't a lot of down time concerning its primary function I kept my provider and was ok paying a lot more money than lower case providers.
When I bought my Galaxy S Blaze I was very happy with the phone. I was able to play games, text like crazy, do chats and downloads, watch YouTube, omg I was having so much fun and at the time I had no trouble. About a year into enjoying my device I began to have issues with it; annoying little issues I think all cellphone users go through especially smart phone users and I would either call tech support or visit a near by store. I simple fix of either updating the Sim card or checking to see if they were having issues on their end. The hook for all providers is to either frustrate with going through hoops to correct a problem they are not sure about or to just bedazzle you with a new phone that really is a refurbished device hence locking you back into a contract.
I love smart phone technology but if my device can not do the primary function which is making calls out or receiving calls in it is useless to me. I do understand that regardless of provider from time to time they will either have some kind of tech issue on their end or tower malfunction. I had gone months with either having low reception having issues with making calls out or getting calls in. Being in denial at first I always blamed who I was trying to call but as time marched on and getting a new device and so have the others I was trying to call I came to a conclusion that it was my provider and yes perhaps my phone over time.
I did find a new provider and I finally divorced T-Mobile but I leave with a bit of bad taste in my mouth. By accepting a new refurbished replacement phone; I was still under warranty so I paid nothing for it but I did suck me back into contract; two months prior to them eliminating all contracts. Since I was a seasoned veteran of them my contract was still intact and I was still accountable. When I called to find out if I was still in contract and how much to end my relationship with them I was informed I had 6 more months and it would cost me $100 to brake contract plus a one month bill because they don't prorate. I never heard of any utility company not prorating; I got so angry and disgusted I made decision that it was under 200 to snag free and I did. I am not under contract with my new provider
